A Woman In Your Own Right by Anne Dickson

Quartet Books Ltd, 1983.

This is one of the most influential books written about assertiveness.  It is enjoyable, easy to read, and contains scenarios many of us can identify with.  Despite the title, this book is just as relevant for men as well as women!

 

Overcoming Low Self-Esteem by Melanie Fennel

Robinson Publishing Ltd, 1999

This book outlines some Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques for adressing problems of low self-esteem.  It is clear, easy to follow, and helps the reader to work independantly to overcome their low self-esteem and build their confidence.

 

10 Steps to Positive Living by Windy Dryden

Orient Paperbacks, 2002

This book sets out ten steps to help the reader to take responsibility for their thoughts, feelings and actions in order to improve their emotional well being and mental health.  While this book is very accessible and easy to read, it is founded on the principles of Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT).
